Seattle has such a coolness about it. Maybe it's the fact it has the 1st Starbucks, maybe it's the fact that it spawned Kirt Cobain or maybe it's Pike Place Market? Either way I love that city.
Myself and the Celtic Thunder crew decided to go to the market and do a flash busking mob. I'd like to apologize in advance to the other buskers! We didn’t take any money and didn't mean to get on your turf! sorry not sorry :) I made a movie of the whole day… with the acoustic version of Galway Girl…Decko our drummer edited it!....
“Sitting in a hotel in Abbotsford BC Canada doing my laundry and making pasta in the self-catering kitchen. It's not as “rock and roll” as I'm sure a lot of you would like to imagine. In saying that, it's the little things on the road that make life seem somewhat normal even if it’s only half a day.”
This weeks been pretty fun…. made it the whole way up the west coast of America and then some… I am in CANADA! Where is the snow? I know that may seem really stupid…. but everyone else on this line of longitude is in a polar Vortex???
I started this blog in the sunshine and by the looks of it I’ll finish it in the snow.
We started the Canadian leg of the CT tour out on Vancouver Island. Got up early for a bit of sight seeing on the ferry. Always worth the early start. I spent 2 weeks out there with my folks about 2 years ago. What an amazing place! The scenery is amazing, the surf is amazing and the Salmon fishing is off-the-chain. We had a night out in remembrance of George Donaldson. I hadn't had a drink in about a month but had to raise a glass for “The Big Man.” I truly miss him a lot. We all miss him in different ways. I miss him off stage the most. He was almost sure to make you laugh at least once a day weather it was on the bus or in the green room. I'd have loved to have spent more time there on the island.
This week has brought more meetings about the new album “On Mercy Street.” I got the 1st version of the artwork through which I’m happy with. I’m trying to incorporate logo with pictures and txt yet keeping it uncluttered and clean at the same time. For this task I’ve used an old friend from home in Ireland Marty. I’ve always admired every poster or CD cover Marty done in my home town Derry. Marty and I have drank many a stout & sang many a song together. He knows me better than most, so in theory he’s perfect for the job. With this album and release I’m trying to surround myself with people who know me, whom I respect & who I’ve worked with in the past. I think its key for the success of this record.
Next Blog won't be so long to get to you! I promise.. i know it sounds crazy... but the internet in most the Venues in Canada just wouldn't let me load stuff!
All the best
